DQ taps Miss America as Miracle Treat Day spokesperson

July 24, 2013

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and participating Dairy Queen locations throughout the U.S. and Canada will celebrate the 8th Annual DQ Miracle Treat Day on Aug. 8. During this event, $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold will be donated to CMN Hospitals, which raises funds to help save and improve the lives of kids treated at 170 children's hospitals.

In addition, for every person who RSVPs via Facebook to Miracle Treat Day, American Dairy Queen Corporation will donate an additional $1 to CMN Hospitals, up to $50,000.

"The Dairy Queen system has been a proud supporter of CMN Hospitals since 1984," said John Gainor, president and CEO of International Dairy Queen Inc. "Year-round our franchisees are involved with CMN Hospitals. Miracle Treat Day is a fantastic time for all of us to come together and make a difference in the lives of children in our local communities."

Last year, Dairy Queen operators across the U.S. and Canada raised nearly $5 million on Miracle Treat Day for CMN Hospitals. Since 1984, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $97 million through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives.

This year, Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, a national goodwill ambassador for CMN Hospitals, will serve as the honorary spokesperson the event.

The featured Miracle Treat Day "Blizzard of the Day" will be Oreo, which is the most popular Blizzard Treat to date. The Blizzard of the Month for August, the new Tripleberry Brownie, as well as all other Blizzard flavors, also will be available on Miracle Treat Day.
