DQ’s crowdsourced S’mores commercial contest enters final stage

Dairy Queen has selected the three finalists for its S’mores Song Music Video Contest. From now through July 18, DQ fans can vote for their favorite entry on DQsmoresvideocontest.com.

Based on popular fan vote, one grand-prize winner will be awarded $10,000. The second prize will receive a $1,000 Dairy Queen gift card and third prize will receive one Blizzard Treat per month for one year (a $260 DQ gift card). Winners will be announced on July 28.

The three finalists are:

  • “Ultimate S’mores Song Remix” by Michael Jones of Tucson, Ariz.;
  • “Backyard Party” by Andy Checketts of River Heights, Utah;
  • “The Sweet Pickin’ S’mores Blizzard Ditty” by Paul Koudouris of Pittsburgh.

“I want to congratulate all of our fans who, through this video contest, took the time to share with us their passion for the DQ brand and our S’mores Blizzard Treat in particular,” DQ EVP of Marketing, Barry Westrum, said in a news release. “One of the most difficult decisions was choosing the three finalists. We wish them well and encourage everyone to log on and vote for their favorite. I do know that based on the video submissions, we are a brand with the most talented fans.”

All submissions for the S’mores Song Music Video Contest were judged on video quality, creativity, originality and adherence to theme. Fans were asked to submit a 45 to 60 second video of the next verse for the S’mores song featured in the DQ commercial.
