Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins' parent, Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. has named John Varughese to the role of senior vice president, international. He replaces Nigel Travis who will continue as board chair for the company, according to a press release.
In his new role, Varughese will oversee all aspects of Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' business units outside the U.S. and he will serve on the company's leadership team. Varughese has spent the past 16 years working with the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' international business units.
"John is a seasoned international retail executive with a deep understanding of both the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' brands and the countries we serve," Dunkin' Brands CEO and U.S. President Dave Hoffmann said in the release "His appointment as the head of our international business enables us to seamlessly continue our support of franchisees and licensees and strategically grow our two brands outside the U.S."
Under Varughese's leadership, both brands have launched new store concepts, with coffee-forward Dunkin' restaurants now in 10 countries with more than 150 locations. He has also greatly expanded the number of licensed Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' products offered in retail outlets and increased the home delivery business for both brands, which is now available in more than 30 countries.
