Dunkin' Donuts has signed multi-unit store development agreements in Cincinnati and Kansas City.
The Cincinnati deal was signed with existing franchisee Gilligan Oil Company LLC for six new restaurants in the southern Ohio area. Currently, Gilligan Oil owns and operates three restaurants in the market and has three more in development.
This deal will boost Gilligan Oil's Dunkin' Donuts portfolio to 12 locations open and operating by 2016.
Dunkin' Donuts is also seeking new and existing franchisees elsewhere in Ohio, including more expansion in Cincinnati, as well as Dayton and Toledo.
The chain also has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with the Savoureux Corporation to open five restaurants in North Kansas City. The first will open in 2012 and the remaining four units will be developed by 2016 in the suburbs of Liberty and Gladstone, Kan.
Zach Wiegert, a retired 12-year NFL lineman and Outlined Trophy winner, has teamed up with current NFL player Kris Brown, and Jeff Woodbury, a principal of Woodbury Corporation, to develop the area.
Wiegert is a long-time real estate development partner of Woodbury's and runs the Midwest office of Woodbury Corporation, a 98-year-old Utah-based development company that owns and operates real estate projects in 11 states.
"We are excited to expand Dunkin' Donuts' presence in North Kansas City and play an important role in the daily lives of people who live, work and visit here," said Wiegert. "We have a strong passion and loyalty for the brand and look forward to the opening of our restaurants in the years to come."
Additionally, Dunkin' Donuts is seeking franchisees to develop restaurants throughout Missouri. Opportunities also exist in Ottumwa and Des Moines, Iowa.
