Following the release of that startling video of a Florida McDonald's employee allegedly being pulled across the counter by an irate customer in search of a straw, the Orlando Sentinel today reported that a group of Florida fast-food workers will strike today to call attention to what they say are unsafe working conditions.
The video, which was shared virally after the alleged attack last week showed a man we now know as Daniel Taylor grabbing the McDonald's employee, Yasmine James' shirt in an attempt to pull her across the counter after he requested a straw at the St. Petersburg store. James is seen hitting him in the face in response and Taylor has since been charges with simple battery for that alleged incident and another in which police say he also kicked a second McDonald's employee. .
The strike is being publicized by the workers' rights group, Fight for $15. It is set for the Jan. 8 lunch time period with a goal of prompting QSRs to provide more on-the-job protection for employees.
