Dairy Queen appears to be angling for a chunk of the after-school and after-work crowd with several new promotions revolving around the end of summer, unofficially speaking. On Tuesday, Sept. 6 — the day after Labor Day — DQ will give away free small Ultimate Oreo Frappes from 2–5 p.m., according to a press release.
This version of the frappe has all the bells and whistles: coffee; Oreo cookie pieces; and the DQ’s trademark vanilla soft serve, all topped with whipped topping and a few more of those Oreos.
"This is the time of year when everyone gets a fresh start from the classroom to the football field," said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corp., in a press release. "None of us want[s] summer to end, so at DQ, we are easing the transition for our fans with a free frappe."
In fact, DQ already offers a weekday 2–5 p.m. happy hour featuring specially priced mocha, salted caramel and vanilla iced coffees, as well as Oreo, caramel chip and midnight mocha frappes and an assortment of Orange Julius fruit smoothies. A small iced coffee costs $1 during happy hour, while frappes and small smoothies are priced at $2.
