Golden Chick opened its first Louisiana store this week and in fact, will be the focus of tomorrow's QSRweb podcast when the chain's president, Jim Stevens, stops by for the read-out from that 188-store chain. Franchisee, Shay Ghafoor, is at the helm of the new Baton Rouge store on Airline Highway, which features the brand's refreshed interior look and a drive-thru, a news release said.

"I am honored to be able to bring Golden Chick and its extensive chef-inspired menu to Louisiana for the very first time and provide new jobs for the local community," said Ghafoor. "Baton Rouge is a special place and I am looking forward to sharing the goodness that is Golden Chick with my friends, family and future guests. Over the next few years, my goal is to open three to five more locations throughout this great state."

Ghafoor is opening the store with his brother and two brothers-in-law. It's one of four total stores he has operated as an 8-year franchisee of the chain.

"Opening a location in a new market is one of the vital steps towards our brand expansion and overarching goal of reaching 500 locations by 2030," said Jim Stevens, president of Golden Chick.

The new 2,400-square-foot restaurant has 50 people on its crew and is part of the 53-year-old Texas-based chain.
