Hughes introduces firewall solution for small and medium-size businesses

Hughes Network Systems LLC, an EchoStar company, has introduced HughesOn Secure Connectivity Services, a network solution for small and medium-size businesses with multiple sites, according to a press release. HughesOn SCS provides a firewall solution that comes with a plug-and-play router, continuous network management, 24/7 support, available 4G backup and optional PCI compliance software, optimized for network security for any type of broadband connection.

"HughesOn SCS gives businesses with many locations a robust managed firewall experience on par with the largest enterprise grade networks," Mike Tippets, vice president of enterprise marketing at Hughes, said in the release. "We're making big franchise technology available to smaller franchise and unbranded locations with all the benefits of state-of-the-industry security and the peace of mind of Hughes support — without needing an IT department to manage it all."

HughesOn SCS customers select their managed firewall platform — either the Fortinet FortiGate 30E with built-in 4G backup or the new Hughes HR4860 managed firewall, a distributed, edge-based device that combines SD-WAN, broadband optimization and strong security capabilities. Both routers integrate seamlessly with existing network infrastructure, and both feature Fortinet security technology. 

Hughes has deployed more than 28,000 managed SD-WAN sites, helping distributed enterprises — from retailers and restaurants to convenience stores and gas stations — keep their networks secure for more than 25 years.
