Independent delivery service brings QSR food to the people

A new food delivery service is bringing McDonald's and Taco Bell orders to residents of Gainesville, Fla.

The company, called Gainesville2go, delivers food to customers around the city for $2.50 plus order costs. The company's website includes a list of restaurants it will deliver from, with a disclaimer that it is in no way affiliated with the restaurant companies.

According to the Independent Florida Alligator, Gainesville2go was getting requests for food from local QSRs and therefore added them to the service. If an order comes for a QSR, delivery drivers are informed and pick up the food from the drive-thru.

According to the story, Gainesville2go receives about 10 orders a day from McDonald's and Taco Bell, making non-affiliated QSR deliveries as popular as the company's affiliated restaurants, which are mostly independents.

However, a few Gainesville-area chain franchisees have partnered with the service. Included on the "partner restaurant" list is Sonic (Gainesville2go will not deliver sundaes or banana splits, the website says, but will deliver Blasts), Arby's, Quiznos, Mrs. Fields, Cinnabon and Tropical Smoothie.

Delivery time for orders, the company notes, range from 15 to 40 minutes. Restaurant owners can sign up for the service through the Gainesville2go website.
