Jamba Juice has already responded to the McDonald's smoothie launch with a tongue-in-cheek ad introducing its fake "cheeseburger chill smoothie." The ad promises Jamba Juice customers that it will not enter the burger business and asserts that the idea is just as bizzare when burger companies enter the smoothie industry.
Now Jamba Juice has upped the ante on its offensive, calling customers to participate in what it calls "The Great Smoothie Showdown."
Jamba Juice will honor McDonald's smoothie coupons at select stores through Aug. 15. Markets participating include Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, New York, Chicago, Denver and Miami.
