Jason Priestley returns for Tim Hortons Dueling Donuts contest

July 7, 2014

Tim Hortons Dueling Donuts is back for a second year, with Actor Jason Priestly returning as a judge. The contest kicks off today and runs for seven weeks. At that time, the winning donut creation will be featured on Tim Hortons’ menu, with the creator walking away with $10,000.

In addition to Priestley, eight finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their creations to other Canadian celebrities, including Jann Arden, Anna Olson and Ben Mulroney. Four finalists will be chosen to compete for the grand prize, which will be voted on by the public.

Starting today through Aug. 1, guests can visit DuellingDonuts.ca to design their donut and make a case for why their virtual creation would make the next best donut on the Tim Hortons menu. The brand will provide weekly design themes to help spark their creativity.

There were more than 63,000 entries in last year’s inaugural Dueling Donuts contest, Tammy Martin, VP of Marketing, Food and Merchandise, said in a press release.

"We saw firsthand just how passionate our guests are about donuts. It inspired us to make year two of Tim Hortons Dueling Donuts bigger and better, and we think this year's contest has all the makings of a great event. With weekly design themes and even more ingredients to choose from, we're confident we're going to get some really different and daring submissions,” she said.
