In the Middle East, KFC's famous colonel became "captain" for the day to introduce a seafood offering to customers there. KFC's shrimp addition is now being sold as an LTO in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, a news release said.
KFC announced its Zinger shrimp via its trademarked colonel-centric publicity stunts. This one centered around Dubai and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Colonel Sanders became "captain for the day" on a KFC yacht.
Shrimp samples were delivered to residents and tourists at Dubai's Kite Beach, and along the beaches at Obhur Al-Shamaliyah in Jeddah, as the colonel-gone-captain took to the sea via jet ski. The chain did not disclose whether the shrimp would be made available to consumers in other areas of the world in the future.
