KFC Holdings, the franchisee of the Kentucky Fried Chicken chain of restaurants in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, has announced that it will continue to expand with at least 20 new outlets within the next year.
According to Bernama.com, 12 of the 20 will include drive-thrus, and the franchisee hopes to have at least one drive-thru outlet in each state. Malaysia has 13 states and three federal territories.
Currently, KFC Holdings has 495 restaurants throughout the country, with 32 drive-thru outlets.
KFC holdings expects double-digit sales growth by the end of 2010 with this expansion.
In 2008, the franchisee's planned growth fell short of its 20-outlet expectations, however rebounded with a 10.9 percent increase in sales during 2009.
KFC Holdings expects most of its new sales to come from a new Hot & Spicy Shrimp menu.
