KFC has introduced Go Buckets, a smaller version of its chicken bucket aimed at customers seeking snacks between meals. Starting at $3.49, each bucket pairs chicken with fries or potato wedges. The packaging can be held in one hand or placed in a standard car cupholder, a first for the chain, according to a press release.

Customers can choose four nuggets, two wings or one tender, creating six combinations with the two side options. Each combination contains 16 to 18 grams of protein. Prices and participation vary by location, and the offerings are available while supplies last, with taxes and additional fees extra.

The launch reflects changing eating habits, KFC said, citing Datassential research showing 87% of consumers snack outside traditional mealtimes. Melissa Cash, chief marketing officer for KFC U.S., said in the release the company wants to attract customers seeking convenient, affordable options throughout the day. The smaller format expands the role of KFC's bucket, which debuted in 1957 as packaging for a family meal.
