KFC has opened its first restaurant in Airdrie, marking the brand's 60th location in Scotland, according to a press release.

Located on Carlisle Road, the 249-square-meter drive-thru features KFC's recently unveiled refreshed branding and includes a Kwench counter for the brand's new specialty drinks range. The restaurant is equipped with 70 seats, four digital ordering kiosks, two drive-thru windows, 24 parking spaces and three electric vehicle charging points. Delivery services are available through Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

The opening creates 65 new jobs in the local community, with applications still open for various team member, team leader and management roles.

Provost Kenneth Duffy welcomed the development and its economic impact.

"KFC opening a new restaurant in Airdrie is fantastic news for our community, creating 65 jobs and bringing further investment to the area. Businesses choosing to invest here help strengthen our local economy, and I look forward to seeing KFC make a positive contribution to the community," Duffy said in the press release.

To celebrate the opening, the restaurant gave away merchandise to its first 100 customers and is hosting a Spin to Win wheel with prizes during its first week. As part of its community outreach, the restaurant will conduct daily litter picks and participate in KFC's food donation program to redistribute surplus food through the Felix Project.

Chris Buick, area coach at KFC UK & Ireland, noted the company's excitement about the new location.

"We're proud to be bringing KFC to Airdrie for the first time. From our famous fried chicken favourites to our limited time offers, local fans will be able to enjoy KFC right on their doorstep. As well as creating new jobs, we're looking forward to becoming part of the local community and serving Airdrie's chicken fans for years to come," Buick added in the press release.

The Airdrie location is part of a larger 1.5 billion-pound growth plan for the UK and Ireland over the next five years, which aims to open 500 restaurants and create more than 7,000 jobs over the next decade.

Today, KFC serves 14 million customers a year and operates more than 1,000 restaurants across the UK and Ireland, supported by 33,500 team members.
