KFC expands Cheshire footprint with Winsford Gateway restaurant

KFC opened a new drive-thru restaurant at Winsford Gateway on Friday, creating 45 new jobs for the local community, according to a press release.

The Cheshire location is the first restaurant in the United Kingdom to feature KFC's new restaurant design and branding. The opening is part of a £1.5 billion (approximately $1,990,725) growth plan for the UK and Ireland, which aims to open hundreds of new restaurants and create more than 7,000 jobs over the next decade. According to company research, KFC contributes £96 million ($127,406,400) annually to the North West economy and supports 4,574 jobs.

The new Winsford site features 58 seats, parking, a drive-thru and digital kiosks. Delivery services through Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats are available immediately. The restaurant will serve the chain's full menu, including the newly launched Tenders & Dips range and the limited-time Sticky BBQ Drip menu.

The 45 new roles include a mix of team members, team leaders and management positions, with applications remaining open. The restaurant team will also conduct daily litter picks and donate surplus food to regional community kitchens through the FareShare partner program.

With a fantastic team now in place, we can't wait to welcome our first customers and become part of the community," Tom Reid, senior acquisition manager at KFC UK and Ireland, said in the press release.

Alex Jones, Area Coach at Gastronomy, the franchise partner operating the location, highlighted the preparation behind the launch.

"A huge amount of hard work has gone into bringing this restaurant to life, from recruiting a top local team to putting the finishing touches on the first KFC opening to feature its new restaurant design. It's been great to see the excitement building ahead of opening day, and we're looking forward to finally showing customers what we've been working on," Jones added in the press release.

The new location brings the total number of KFC restaurants in Cheshire to 12.
