Portable pizza and dessert QSR, Kono, plans to scoop up all kinds of fans on Black Friday with the opening of five new mall-based stores in California, Pennsylvania, Texas, Idaho and Washington, D.C., according to a news release.
The chain specializes in fresh-baked dough cones filled with different types of pizza ingredients, as well as tiramisu-inspired desserts with high-end chocolate inside, all baked on-site in three minutes.
"We are providing consumers with a fresh, unique and convenient new alternative to the standard snack options you see in malls and other venues," said Kono USA Co-Founder David Ragosa, in a news release.
Mall locations opening next month include Kono To-Go kiosks in Annapolis and White Marsh Malls, in Baltimore, as well as a Dallas kiosk location in Towne East Mall. Another franchisee is opening in San Diego's Mission Valley Mall, with plans for another 10 locations, while in Boise, Idaho, the first of three locations opens in Boise Town Center Mall.
Earlier this year, a franchisee who signed a deal to operate five units, opened a Kono cart location at a Houston craft beer festival and rodeo, while another franchisee opened the brand's first in-line WalMart location in Lancaster, South Carolina. And a franchisee with a successful kiosk in New Jersey's Cherry Hill Mall is opening his third location in the King of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia.
