Krispy Kreme gets creative with new egg-shaped doughnuts

Krispy Kreme has rolled out two new egg-shaped treats to celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of Universal Pictures' Easter-themed family comedy HOP, from the creators of Despicable Me.

The new Sprinkled Chocolate Iced Egg with Kreme Filling and Drizzled Iced Egg with Chocolate Kreme Filling Doughnuts are available now through April 8 at participating Krispy Kreme U.S. and Canada locations.

"We've captured the delightfulness of this hilarious hit family comedy in two great-tasting, egg-shaped treats," said Ron Rupocinski, Krispy Kreme corporate chef. "They're a fun and colorful way for your family to celebrate the arrival of spring and the Blu-ray and DVD release of HOP."

The Sprinkled Chocolate Iced Egg with Kreme Filling features a chocolate iced, egg-shaped doughnut and spring-themed sprinkles.

The Drizzled Iced Egg with Chocolate Kreme Filling is an egg-shaped doughnut topped with orange icing and drizzled with blue and green icing.

Partnering with Universal Studios Home Entertainment gives us the perfect opportunity to share the joy that is Krispy Kreme and the fun and humor of HOP with Krispy Kreme fans of all ages," said Dwayne Chambers, CMO for Krispy Kreme.

Krispy Kreme Sprinkled Chocolate Iced Egg with Kreme Filling Doughnuts also are available in assorted six-count boxes on Krispy Kreme displays at participating WalMart locations, from March 23 through April 8.

Look for HOP on Blu-ray and DVD beginning March 23 at participating retailers.
