Detroit-born Little Caesars is staying true to the Motor City with constsruction of what could be a game-changing world headquarters campus for the pizza chain and the troubled city. This week, the chain announced it has reached agreement with Michigan-based, Olympia Development, to build its new and expanded headquarters as a nine-story, 234,000-square-foot structure at Woodward Avenue and Columbia Street in The District Detroit.
The building will double the corporate headquarter's current size and feature what a press release said is a first-of-its-kind façade. This project will be Detroit's very first new corporate headquarters' construction in more than a decade and only the seventh since the city's heyday in 1950.
This summer's groundbreaking will start construction on what a news release said will be the world’s first formed-glass façade of its kind. It will be comprised of 14-foot-tall pizza slice shapes of formed-glass to pay homage to the company's products.
"We're thrilled to reach the next step in the development of a building that will be an integral part of The District Detroit and the city's revitalization," said Little Caesars President and CEO David Scrivano. "As we continue our explosive global expansion, we're proud to build an exceptional workplace right in the heart of the city that helped make Little Caesars one of the world's largest pizza chains."
Research and development space will triple those of the current facilities and include a test kitchen and space for sensory panels and quality assurance operations. Detroit-based Brinker-Christman will manage construction and Detroit-based SmithGroupJJR is architect.
"The Little Caesars Global Resource Center is an important anchor for The District Detroit and will appeal to national and local retailers who want proximity to a global brand with Detroit roots," said Olympia Development Vice President Steve Marquardt.
