A new fundraising program, coupled with an online campaign effort, has been launched by McDonald's specifically to benefit its Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Participating McDonald's restaurants throughout the U.S. can donate proceeds from daily Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal sales to the charity, which benefits critically ill children and their families.
The online campaign, "Family Time. Happy Time" encourages families to pledge minutes of "happy time" together and share their activities with other families through the McDonald's Facebook page.
The objective with the online campaign is to demonstrate how small gestures can add up to make a big difference. For each minute pledged, McDonald's will donate one penny toward the RMHC.
The goal is to reach 1 million minutes and the money will be used to implement activities for Ronald McDonald House guests.
Additionally, McDonald's customers can also contribute spare change in a donation box at participating restaurants. Last year, RMHC donation boxes raised nearly $20 million for local chapters.
The Ronald McDonald House also hosts an annual "Give a Hand" fundraiser.
