In celebration of its 10th annual 365Black Awards, McDonald's announced it is expanding the program by inviting more than 2,500 consumers to attend the "golden" carpet event. Hosted by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, the awards show will be held July 6 during Essence Festival weekend at the New Orleans Theater at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
McDonald's 365Black Awards are given annually to salute individuals who are committed to making positive contributions that strengthen the African-American community, according to the company.
This year's honorees include: recording artist Gladys Knight; supermodel Beverly Johnson; education leader Dr. Steve Perry; executive vice president of the Chicago White Sox Kenny Williams; McDonald's owner/operator Roland Parrish; teen entrepreneur Leanna Archer and youth environmentalist Charles Orgbon.
McDonald's 365Black Awards launched in 2003 as an extension of the company's 365Black platform.
