McDonald's restaurants in Japan are about to snuff out the smoke. Plans have been rolled out to make most of the company's Japenese restaurants smoke-free.
According to the Health Express, the plan has been set in motion and about 300 restaurants have gone smokeless thus far.
Additionally, of the more than 1,000 branches that have recently undergone renovations, the majority will reopen as non-smoking establishments. McDonald's has more than 3,500 branches throughout Japan.
The smoking rate in Japan has fallen to a record low 23.9 percent this year.
