McDonald's is launching a company campaign that a news release said will help employees connect their on-the-job QSR skills with tools available to further their education and careers, as well as tuition assistance.
The chain's 'Where You Want To Be' campaign, is based on a previous study the chain did to get workers feelings about so-called "soft skills," like communication and social skills. That study also showed the biggest areas of career interest for McDonald's workers include the arts and entertainment, technology, entrepreneurship, health care and food service, the release said.
This latest initiative will inform workers about tools like the chain's education and career advising programs. The company has also pegged five "influencers" in each of the industries identified for heavy career interest to help McDonald's workers learn more about those professional career fields.
Those "influencers" for each area include:
• Rapper and actor Bryshere Gray for the arts and entertainment fields.
• Former McDonald's crew member and Digital Content Creator Tyler Oakley for the tech fields.
• Entrepreneur and author, James Altucher representing entrepreneurship.
• Dermatologist and surgeon Dr. Meena Singh for health care careers.
• Numerous McDonald's owner/operators for food service professions.
"Through this campaign and our ongoing education investments we are committed to helping all those who come to work for us - or our independent franchisees - to see the possibility of their own potential," McDonald's U.S. Chief People Officer Melissa Kersey said in the release.
The company's Archways to Opportunity education program has paired with the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning to increase information about other career-oriented tools available through the chain to help restaurant employees identify potential career paths and chart a course to achieving their goals, including no-cost career advising services, a career exploration mobile app, the release said.
