McDonald's is leveraging its partnership with Apple to offer surprise activations for people waiting in line today for the iPhone 6 launch.
McDonald's brand ambassadors are on site today at the Apple flagship store in New York City, as well as the Apple store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, to inform customers that they can pay for their meals with the iPhone's new Apple Pay feature. The brand ambassadors are also handing out McDonald's apple pies, apple slices and other merchandise such as shirts, sunglasses and iPhone accessories.
McDonald's is one of Apple's early partners and will use the Apple Pay technology throughout its system. Apple Pay, which allows customers to pay with their iPhone 6's instead of cash or credit cards, will be implemented throughout the chain in mid-October.
The iPhone 6/6 Plus launch is expected to be the biggest introduction in Apple's 38-year history.
