McDonald's USA has renewed its sponsorship as the Official Quick Service Restaurant of the National Hockey League in the United States and in territories where the annual season-opening NHL Premiere Series is held. The contract was renewed for "multiple years," according to NHL.com.
As part of the agreement, McDonald's will once again be the presenting partner of the NHL/NBC's Hockey Day in America, a 6-hour televised celebration of hockey set for Feb. 19.
It also will serve as the Official Partner of the NHL Premiere Series, the NHL Winter Classic, NHL All-Star Game, NHL All-Star Skills Competition and the NHL Awards.
Through the renewal, McDonald's USA will continue to support NHL media (NHL Network, NHL.com and NHL Mobile) and league rights-holders (NBC and NBC Sports Network).
A charitable component will be included as well. The NHL's monetary and in-kind contributions in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), McDonald's "Charity of Choice," and the Ronald McDonald House Program will help improve the health and well being of children and their families.
Keith Wachtel, NHL senior vice president of Integrated Sales, said McDonald's is an ideal partner for the league because of the chain's reach, influence and customer loyalty.
