McDonald's and partner Kindle Communications have been awarded Silver for "Best Combination of Event Technologies (B-to-B)" and "Best Event App" at the Event Technology Awards for their 2014 Worldwide Convention responsive website, mobile meeting app and onsite engagement center.
McDonald's new technology allows more than 15,000 owner/operators, franchisees, corporate employees and suppliers to use the messaging platform and communicate interactively, according to a news release.
"There’s been a huge shift in the way McDonald’s builds relationships with consumers, and how our customers talk about our brands," said Lisa Fingerhut, engagement project manager for McDonald's meetings and events team, in the release. "We wanted to connect with our worldwide attendees in a way that models this new mode of relationship building."
Through McDonald's responsive website, the company can share up-to-the-minute news. The custom-built event app featured a closed social network and push messaging.
Large video screens and LED videowalls displayed the internal stream alongside real-time customer posts from Twitter, Instagram and Facebook throughout the exhibit hall and engagement center.
From launch through the event, the website had about 405,000 page visits and the app drew nearly 11,000 unique users, with the average attendee referencing it between seven and 12 times per day.
