McDonald’s returns Cuties to Happy Meals

McDonald’s announced that it has returned Cuties California Clementines to its Happy Meals.

McDonald’s announced that it has returned Cuties California Clementines to its Happy Meals. The chain served 38 million Cuties in Happy Meals  à la carte since December 2014, according to a company press release.

The return of this easy-to-peel fruit is a move to help families make nutrition-minded choices fun and easy and part of a larger commitment with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Clinton Global Initiative the release stated. McDonald's made a number of notable wellness changes in 2015 including:

  • Providing 19 million servings of whole fruit last year from Cuties
  • Serving more than 1.7 billion kids’ meals with a side of fruit (apple slices and Cuties) and low-fat dairy (Go-GURT) between January 2012 and October 2015
  • Providing more than 1.5 billion packages of apple slices in kids meals since March 2012
  • Serving more than 232 million Go-GURT yogurts since June 2014
  • Committing to sourcing chicken raised without antibiotics important to human medicine in the U.S. by 2017
  • Transitioning to sourcing cage-free eggs within the next 10 years
  • Offering freshly cracked grade-A eggs
  • Using real butter instead of liquid margarine on English muffins, biscuits and bagels
