McDonald’s sued by Russian regulators

July 31, 2014

A Russian federal agency has sued McDonald's, claiming its nutritional content is "misrepresented." According to UPI, the agency, Rosselkhoznadzor, has begun an investigation into alleged antibiotics in the brand's cheese.

A spokesperson for the agency said the investigation began after "a great number of complaints." McDonald's argued that no complaints have been received and said its nutritional content is posted per Russian government policies. Some sources have opined that the investigation is "part of Russia's undeclared war against U.S. interests."

McDonald's has 430 restaurants in Russia.
