McDonald's began testing macaroni and cheese at 18 locations in Ohio late the week of Dec. 14, according to a Chicago Tribune report. The mac and cheese entree is made with a blend of real cheese rather than powdered cheese. The report did not state which kinds of cheese.
The 4-ounce portion costs $1.75. It is also available as the entree of a Happy Meal.
A McDonald's spokesperson told The Tribune that it is too early to say whether mac and cheese could be coming to Chicago or any other markets.
McDonald's recently tested mozzarella sticks in New York and will make them available nationwide on Jan. 4, the report stated.
