McDonald’s UAE delivery trucks to run on recycled vegetable oil

July 4, 2011

Dubai-based Neutral Fuels LLC will soon begin using recycled vegetable oil from McDonald's outlets throughout the United Arab Emirates to fuel the chain's delivery trucks. The company, which is a joint venture between Neutral Group and an Emirati businessman, will convert the used oil into biofuel to power the trucks as early as next month.

The process has been in testing since last year, according to the Associated Press.

McDonald's UAE uses more than 20,000 liters of vegetable oil at 90 restaurants in the region.

McDonald's vehicles in England and Austria are already fueled by recycled oil.
