Online search results put Chick-fil-A at top of franchise heap

November 14, 2018

Chick-fil-A is the nation's most popular franchise when it comes to Google search, according to research conducted by equipment sale website bid-on-equipment.com.

The website investigated volume trends on Google as they relate to each state's franchising offerings Chick-fil-A also charted the highest for Google search volume in the individual states of Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Dunkin' came in second in regards to Google volume and proved a top pick in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Other findings of the search include:

  • Subway ranked third by search volume, and was tops in Minnesota and New Mexico.
  • Little Caesars was the choice for Arizona, Kentucky, Nevada and Utah.
  • Jimmy John's reigned supreme in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin.
  • Burger King saw significant activity in Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota.

The losers — at least by the website's popularity tally — were McDonald's (chosen by California and Massachusetts), as well as Taco Bell in North Dakota and Oregon and North Dakota and KFC in Alaska, Idaho and Maine. If you're asking about the remaining states of Iowa and West Virginia, they went with a non-franchise brand, Waffle House, and just two states were big franchisers of the southern favorite, Waffle House: Iowa and West Virginia.
