OpenTable’s pay feature extends to DC metro area

October 15, 2014

OpenTable has announced that Pay with OpenTable is now available in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

To pay with OpenTable, diners who book at participating restaurants are prompted to add a credit card in the OpenTable iPhone app before they dine and can then view and pay their check with a few taps. There is no separate app, codes, scanning or barcodes, the company said in a release.

"The convenience and benefits that our diners and restaurant customers enjoy today are just the beginning of the value we can deliver as a company focused more broadly on the experience of dining out," Matt Roberts said in the release. "Just as we solved the pain of booking a reservation, we have a tremendous opportunity to solve the pain of settling the check, and Washington, DC is a natural place to demonstrate this."

In addition to Washington, DC, Pay with OpenTable is currently available in New York City and San Francisco. OpenTable plans to add 20 cities before year end.
