Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, a division of AFC Enterprises Inc., has brought back its popular limited time Rip'n Chick'n offering. The chicken tenders are presented as pull apart strips that are easy to dip, and will be served with Cajun fries, a buttermilk biscuit and ranch sauce for $3.99 through June 24.
The Rip'n Chick'n is marinated with a blend of cayenne, habañero, white and black peppers, and then is hand battered, breaded, and cooked in Popeyes signature crispy batter.
The item was first introduced in July 2011.
Removing the 'ing
Popeyes' is celebrating the return of its Rip'n Chick'n with an unusual promotion.
"Rip'n Chick'n is a unique and fun product, so we had a lot of fun coming up with a name," said Hector Munoz, Popeyes' vice president of Marketing. "Then we thought, much like we changed the 'ing' in the name to ''n,' what if all the websites we visited 'ripped the g's' too? So, we ideated a plug-in that would do just that. We think customers will have just as much fun Rip'n their Chick'n as 'brows'n' the headlines of their favorite websites."
Customers who visit Popeyes.com/ripn can activate the promotion and start "turn'n each -ing into an 'n." Fans can start read'n rip'd up web copy by drag'n the Rip'n icon to their bookmarks bar, go'n to their favorite websites and click'n the Rip'n Chick'n tab. The bookmarklet, developed by the chain's digital agency Campbell Mithun, turns everyday content into an "entertain'n" experience.
Consumers who use the app can share links to their rip'd up content via Facebook or Twitter.
Additionally, Popeyes representatives will visit five U.S. cities to "drop G's" as part of this promotion. Fans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles and New Orleans will have the opportunity to win $1,000 worth of Popeyes' gift checks. Clues on how to win the prize money are available on Popeyes' Facebook and Twitter pages.
"Popeyes Rip'n Chick'n is a great portion of our zesty boneless chicken with a kick that can be eaten alone, or shared with your favorite people," Munoz said. "We wanted to share the fun of this product with our fans online across the globe and on the ground in cities across America. We are drop'n the G's all over but most importantly in your local Popeyes."
Popeyes' menu gets peachy
In addition to bringing back a popular LTO, Popeyes also is introducing new items to its menu for the summer. Beginning in June, the new Cane Sweeeet Peach Iced Tea and Southern Peach Pie will be available through August.
Popeyes new Cane Sweeeet Peach Iced Tea includes a blend of black and orange pekoe tea enhanced with peach flavor and additional notes of peach skin and pulp. Like Popeyes Cane Sweeeet Iced Tea, new Peach Iced Tea is brewed fresh daily with Pure Cane Sugar.
Popeyes Cane Sweeeet Peach Iced Tea is the second flavor profile of Popeyes tea line launched in June of 2010 as a core menu item.
"After success with our original Cane Sweeeet Iced Tea, it was only natural to introduce a new flavor extension to celebrate the summer and National Tea Month in June," Munoz said.
Single serve portions and one gallon jugs of Cane Sweeeet Peach Iced Tea will be available for purchase at participating locations.
Popeyes new Southern Peach Pie features a pie crust filled with real peach pieces enriched with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon then made fresh.
