Popeyes CIO leaving, passing on Twitter duties

Tim Davis, chief information officer for Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has revealed in a post on the TAG community forum that he is leaving that position to help build a business-to-business social media company.
 
Davis shares in the blog how he anonymously started the chain's Twitter account @PopeyesChicken on his own in May 2008. After his tweets began receiving notice in marketing blogs, he revealed his role to the corporate staff, who encouraged him to continue because of the positive engagement gained.
 
Davis said his purpose on Twitter was not a marketing ploy but that he truly enjoyed engaging with consumers on Twitter as writing bad puns in his tweets. He made no apologies for tweets that offended some readers, including those that used sexual innuendo when refering to various pieces of chicken.
 
In the post, he provides links to his favorite tweets as well as to media coverage of his work.
