Premium rollouts target casual dining
February 18, 2009
CNN Money: Burger King, Jack in the Box and other quick-service restaurant chains are trying to lure customers away from casual-dining restaurants with premium products.
Burger King has installed a new broiler at more than 60 percent of its stores in the United States and Canada that will allow restaurants to cook thicker burgers and even ribs, kebabs and other items. Jack in the Box will soon roll out miniature premium sirloin burgers intended to rival those sold at casual-dining restaurants.
AndMcDonald's is still testing three varieties of an Angus burger, a one-third pound burger patty on a higher-end bun, in 1,100 stores.
