California-based QSR chopped salad concept, Chop Stop, recently signed 16 franchise agreements in three states, marking the chain's first franchises in Texas and Nevada. By the end of 2019, Chop Stop said it plans to have 23 total units open, according to a news release.
"We are highly encouraged by the progress these agreements represent for the Chop Stop brand and franchise," Chop Stop founder and CEO Mark Kulkis said in the release. "Chop Stop has a wide and loyal customer base in California and the new franchises represent new areas that will fall in love with the fresh, wholesome and filling chopped salads."
Among the new locations planned for 2019 is their first unit in the San Antonio, Texas area, which will open under a eight-unit restaurant development agreement for the city, with an option for eight more units in Austin, over the next several years, under franchisee Matthew Weir. Five units are under construction in Southern California, with plans to open early next year.
Chop Stop started franchising at the start of this year, with plans to have 100 locations operating in five years.
