QSR, fast casual pricing: You said they're pulling farther apart

July 11, 2019

Earlier this week, we asked readers of Restaurant Operator Daily whether they thought fast casual brands and QSRs were getting closer or further apart in their menu pricing, following a story about rates of growth in the two sectors. Though our readers were relatively close in their opinions on the question, most (40%) said they thought the two limited-service segments were indeed getting further apart in their pricing.

But it was by no means a slam-dunk, since 19% still thought the two categories were moving more toward the same types of pricing these days, perhaps indicating increasing QSR prices to account for those higher end menu items being pulled in to fight for audience in QSRs' battle for business with fast casual.

Of course, a healthy 20% of our respondents, just didn't know, which may be the most accurate answer of all since at this point the scientific data on such pricing is lacking. Our daily polls are not intended to be scientific, but just a kind of "temperature of the moment" test of our readers thoughts. Keep reading and voting in the polls. In fact, send us a suggestion for a poll question if you have one you'd like to "investigate."
