Quiznos launches fundraising campaign for leukemia fight

September 24, 2013

Quiznos restaurants across the U.S. and Canada are partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in a fundraising effort to end cancer. Throughout the remainder of September and October, customers are encouraged to donate $1 or $5 with their order to help fund cancer research.

"The research funded by LLS is incredibly productive — almost half of the new cancer drugs approved in the U.S. since 2000 were approved to treat one or more blood cancers," said Stuart Mathis, CEO of Quiznos. "We are honored to partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, an organization that has helped advance these modern anti-cancer drugs. Every donation we can raise gets us one step closer to a goal of ending cancer forever."

The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. When LLS was founded in 1949, a blood cancer diagnosis was almost always fatal. Now, survival rates have nearly quadrupled for blood cancer patients. To date, LLS has invested more than $875 million in research to advance therapies.

"Many of the new drugs developed by LLS have already been approved to help beyond the blood cancer patients for whom they were first developed, including patients with solid tumors and other serious diseases. Thanks to funding provided by brands like Quiznos, patients are living longer, fuller lives," said Amy Franze, senior vice president of Field Advancement for LLS.

Quiznos' goal is to raise $100,000 for the organization.
