Rex’s Chicken brings back mashed potatoes

May 12, 2011

Beautiful Brands International's Rex's Chicken brand has reintroduced its classic mashed potatoes and gravy and has also debuted made-fresh potato chips and fried pickles.

The mashed potatoes and gravy returned to the menu after numerous requests from customers asking for the revival of the popular side dish from the original Rex's circa 1951.

"I can't tell you the number of requests we've gotten from guests for Rex-style mashed potatoes and gravy – it's been truly amazing and overwhelming," said David Rutkauskas, Beautiful Brands founder, president and CEO. "Needless to say, we've decided to add it to our menu offerings along with our homemade potato chips and, for a limited time, our delicious fried pickles. Nothing is more important to us than keeping our customers happy and expanding our options to satisfy their cravings."

The expanded menu coincides with recently announced plans by BBI to open its first multi-branded stores in Durant, Okla., and Raleigh, N.C. The new stores are slated to open in two to three months and will feature Rex's Chicken, FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Cafe and Smallcakes Cupcakery, the latter two of which are also BBI brands.
