Rex's Chicken signs agreement for three new units

September 14, 2010

Rex’s Chicken continues its expansion with plans to open three new stores in Raleigh, N.C.

The announcement comes after Beautiful Brands International (BBI), Rex's parent company, announced its agreement with John Lenzmeier.

Lenzmeier and BBI have a prior agreement signed in November 2009, naming Lenzmeier as BBI’s lead development agent for its FreshBerry franchise in the state. He is the first Rex’s Chicken franchisee in North Carolina.

“Rex's Chicken is perfect for the Triangle area because there is nothing quite like it,” Lenzmeier said. “When guests get a taste of Rex’s bite size chicken, sides and fry bread, they’re going to absolutely crave the taste and be back for more.”

David Rutkauskas, Beautiful Brands founder, president and CEO, said Lenzmeier is the experienced person needed to bring Rex’s to the East Coast.

“There’s no question John has a wonderful knowledge of the market and is a great fit for our expansion strategy region-wide,” Rutkauskas said.

The agreement requires the opening of three stores in two years and may include locations such as Durham, Chapel Hill and Cary. The first Rex’s location is scheduled to open in 2011 in Raleigh.

Currently, the development of new Rex's Chicken stores are also underway in Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and Arkansas.

Rex's Chicken was reinvented by Rutkauskas and during its grand opening week of June 21.
