Sarku Japan opens ninth Chicago area store

March 30, 2011

Sarku Japan will open its ninth Chicago area unit on April 7. The teriyaki and sushi express concept's newest location is in Schaumburg, Ill. and will feature a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, with more than 100 different drink options available through the "PurePour" technology.

"We are thrilled to be opening the newest Sarku Japan storefront location in Schaumburg," said Bruce Kim, director of franchise development. "The growing popularity of Asian Quick Service Restaurants has reflected a change in American appetites. More people are health-conscious, and Japanese food – including our made-to-order teriyaki and sushi – satisfies a desire for fast food alternatives that are low-fat and fresh."

Sarku Japan opened its first Chicago area store in 1993 at the Yorktown Mall.

In addition to Chicago and as part of the chain's domestic and international growth plan, Sarku storefronts are expected to open soon in metro markets such as Los Angeles, New York City and Washington, D.C.
