Seven KFC units closing as franchisee retires

March 29, 2011

Five KFC units in western Massachusetts and two in northern Connecticut have closed after franchisee Jesse Lanier's retirement.

According to WWLP-TV, restaurants affected are located in Springfield, East Longmeadow, Palmer and Enfield, Mass. and Windsor Locks, Conn.

The closings will affect about 90 employees.

Lanier, 70, owned and operated all of the units with his company, Springfield Food System Inc., which has been in existence for 27 years.

Six other franchised KFC units remain open in the western Massachusetts market.
