Doc Popcorn has popped into the Middle Eastern nation of Oman under the guidance of master franchisees Adil Nasser Al Sharyani and Adel Ali Lawati, of Muscat Golden Skies LLC. The new store in the Oman China Mall opened Sept. 2 as the chain's flagship location in the country, according to a news release.
"Doc Popcorn brings an entirely new snacking experience to the country," said Nasser Al Saharan. "The fresh-faced brand is certainly not your grandfather’s popcorn."
Over the next five years, the group plans to open at least seven locations of the chain in Oman. All Oman locations will soon offer variations based on local flavors of the region, the release said.
"This is a milestone for Doc Popcorn as we expand into our first Middle Eastern country," said the brand's co-founder, Rob Israel, in the news release. "We believe the Gulf Cooperation Council region is a good fit for the brand, and expect to continue our growth in the region as Doc Popcorn proves to be successful."
Doc Popcorn features varieties that are gluten-, nut- and dairy-free in its mission to provide “better-for-you” snacks. The company’s international locations include sites in Chile, Japan and Mexico, and it has a signed franchise agreement for Peru .
