Sonic intros breakfast 'lite'

Sonic's new LTO is an early riser, but its new breakfast slinger is available all day for $1.49, a news release said. 

The egg-and-cheese breakfast slinger weighs in at just 250 calories in its cheese-covered eggs on a brioche bun. Customers can also add bacon or sausage and each is designed to fit the demands of a lighter-eating consumer, Sonic Vice President of Product Innovation and Development Scott Uehlein said in the release.  

"Consumers are looking for a smaller breakfast sandwich, so we focused on finding the right portion size. Something that is going to completely satisfy you without slowing you down," he said.

Ninety-five percent of the longtime drive-in chain's locations are locally owned in their jurisdictions. Today there are more than 3,600 of those restaurants around the nation.
