Sonic posts first-quarter profits

OKLAHOMA CITY— Sonic posted an 8.7-percent increase in the first quarter for $16.4 million. Total revenues rose 12.4 percent to $159.8 million. For the first quarter, Sonic's systemwide same-store sales increased 4.7 percent, reflecting gains of 5.1 percent at franchised drive-ins and 3 percent at joint-venture units.
