Sonic has announced two promotions – Paige Bass has been named senior vice president and general counsel, and Anita Vanderveer has been named senior vice president of people.
Bass previously served as VP and general counsel. She joined Sonic in April 2004 as associate general counsel. In February of 2007, she was promoted to vice president and general counsel.
According to a news release, as SVP and general counsel, Bass will continue to lead Sonic's legal department and will be responsible for managing legal strategies for Sonic Corp. and its subsidiaries.
"In recent years, Paige has built a strong legal team and played a key role in several significant strategic business initiatives," CEO Clifford Hudson said in the release. "From our media plan to the development of new drive-in technology to our refinancing strategy, Paige has provided valuable legal counsel and been an integral part of the team and will play an even bigger role for the brand moving forward."
Vanderveer was promoted from VP of people, a position she has held since joining Sonic in April 2011. Her duties entail identifying the best human capital strategies that drive business results, including talent management, recruitment, people development, employee relations, payroll, benefits and compensation, recognition, internal communications and organizational design and change.
"Anita has done an excellent job developing a Great People brand strategy that has tremendously benefited our company, our field organization and franchise employees," Hudson said. "She continues to provide strong thought leadership and developed a strategic framework for aligning our human resource needs with the business plans we have for our organization."
