Sonic Drive-in has a new senior director of franchise sales and development who a news release said is charged with accelerating the brand's expansion. Sam Wong was formerly senior director of development for Dairy Queen Corporation, where he led the brand's retail store development, franchise sales and real estate strategy. He also held a similar development role before that at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
Based in Irvine, Califorinia, Wong will lead Sonic franchise development in California, Oregon and Washington, as well as in priority markets, including Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
"Sam is a strong salesman with relevant experience that will greatly benefit our team as we continue to grow toward our development goals," said Drew Ritger, senior vice president of development at Sonic in a news release. "Our entire development team is focused on expanding the brand to fans across the U.S. by offering a differentiated franchise concept to interested entrepreneurs in markets large and small. Sam will help us do this."
