It's not everyday that you get the chance to do something good for others while doing something very good for yourself, but Subway is making that possible for its customers on National Sandwich Day on Nov. 3. The chain is launching its Good Deed Feed that day, and every guest who buys a sub and a drink that Thursday will get another free sub of equal or lesser value, as well as the knowledge that the chain will also donate one meal to Feeding America thanks to their purchase.
"One in eight Americans (is) going hungry, and we're in the business of feeding people," said Subway President and CEO Suzanne Greco, in a news release about the promotion. "Many of our franchisees have been committed to fighting hunger in their communities for years, and we're proud of The Good Deed Feed and the impact it will have on a national level."
Subway is working to make the single day deal-and-good-deed promo the largest meal donation day in Feeding America's history by donating more than 11 million meals with no limit on the number of meals donated.
"Hunger is an issue that affects every community in our country. We are thankful for Subway restaurants and its customers for their commitment to fighting hunger on National Sandwich Day," said Feeding America CEO Diana Aviv. "Donations made through this campaign will go a long way in helping member food banks provide meals to people in need."
Customers can also double the duty of their good deeds by sharing content about their donation using the special hashtag, #GoodDeedFeed, on mic.com, an online news portal written by millennials, any time between now and that Thursday. For each one of those shares on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, Mic will make a meal donation to the cause.
