Subway Canada has launched its first Fresh For Less Menu, featuring various breakfast, lunch, snack and side options priced under $5 each, according to a press release.
The limited-time menu includes new items such as the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Snackwich and Turkey Caesar Snackwich served on ciabatta bread, alongside build-your-own breakfast ciabatta sandwiches, Doritos Sweet Chili Heat Footlong Nachos, a meatball marinara protein cup and mini cookies.
The launch coincides with Subway Canada's inaugural State of Lunch Report, which examined Canadians' midday eating habits amid rising food costs. The research revealed that 85% of employed Canadians find it harder to get fresh lunch options at a price they feel comfortable paying. Furthermore, while 73% of employed Canadians consider lunch important, 59% report skipping the meal during the workweek.
"The newly launched Fresh For Less Menu gives Canadians greater choice and flexibility, with options under $5 that they can mix and match throughout the day," Denny Downie, managing director and head of marketing at Subway Canada, said in the release. "Our State of Lunch Report found that lunch is an important part of the workday for Canadians, but rising food costs are making it harder to find the freshness and quality they want at a comfortable price. The Fresh For Less Menu brings those priorities together, without asking Canadians to settle on flavor, quality or variety."
The survey also highlighted the compromises consumers make to stay within budget, noting that 38% of respondents sacrifice portion size, while 30% compromise on ingredient quality, convenience or variety. Researchers noted that one in four employed Canadians would opt for fresher choices if lunch were more affordable.
Subway Canada has nearly 3,000 locations.
