Subway gets playful with new marketing effort

Subway restaurants today launched a marketing alliance with Sony Computer Entertainment America that will offer customers the opportunity to win Playstation prizes before they're available to the general public.

The campaign, called "Fiery Footlong Frenzy Fueled by Playstation," will focus on Subway's Fiery Footlong line, which includes the new spicy turkey jalapeno melt and the buffalo chicken sub.

When diners purchase a 32 oz. drink, specially marked SunChips and specially marked Subway breakfast sandwiches, they can redeem a code for a chance to win a variety of PlayStation prizes, including the PlayStation Move motion controller, before they are available for purchase in stores in September.

Consumers will also be able to participate via social media elements, such as the SubwayFreshBuzz on Twitter.

Other prizes include collector’s edition boxes of Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBigPlanet 2, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Fortune Hunter Edition; Sony Bravia 3D TV and HDTV entertainment packs; PSP (PlayStation Portable) entertainment packs that include a movie, game and PSP 3000, Sony Bloggie Cameras, and more.

The prizes total more than $1 million in retail value and will be given away every minute during the promotion.
